Cooper, Randy Eugene

Randy Eugene Cooper, 65, of Christiansburg, VA went home to be with the Lord on July 26, 2026. Born on August 20, 1960, in Beckley West Virginia, he was the son of the late Rev. Ralph Franklin Cooper and Retha Viola (Cross) Cooper.

Randy was happiest when spending time with his son and grandchildren, especially if it involved bluegrass music and pulled pork barbecue. His favorite pastimes were watching movies, visiting antique stores and flea markets, and going to NASCAR races and Civil War reenactments with his brother Frank. He was known for filling every room of the house with the most unique treasures, ranging from civil war era bullets and antique belt buckles to the original Mountain Dew slogan signs.

As a devoted son he dedicated many years to caring for his mother, providing her with love, comfort, and strength in her final days. Although he may have been a man of few words, he showcased his love for those he cared for by remembering what their favorite things were and always finding the perfect additions to their own collections.

Randy devoted nearly 45 years of his life in service to others by working in the dietary department of Heritage Hall Rehabilitation Center and made many lasting relationships along the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Frank (Ralph Franklin Cooper II). He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Nicole Cooper; grandchildren Luna and Taran Cooper; niece Krissy Cooper; niece Kimmi Ashwell and husband Jonathan; great nephew Alfie Ashwell; Sister-in-law Patsy Cooper; cousin Eugene and Nancy Cooper; longtime friend Billy Jones and many other family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Services will include visitation with the family at 1:00pm on Monday, August 3rd at Horne Funeral Home followed by a graveside Memorial service at Roselawn Memorial Gardens officiated by Rev. Jerry Hylton at 2pm.
