Edwards, Steven Kelcie

Steven “Kelcie” Edwards, age 74, passed away on April 3, 2026 after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Annie R. Edwards and Robert K. Edwards.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Melba; son Thomas M. Amos (Stacey); and grandson Nathan Amos.

Kelcie was born and raised in Clarksdale, Mississippi. He was a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Robert A. Owens DD827. He was a Master Mason and member of the Hunter’s Lodge #156 and Craighill Lodge #160. Kelcie retired from Virginia Tech after 22 years of service as Access Control Manager.

Kelcie and Melba enjoyed traveling over the years by motorcycle and RV. He enjoyed flying a Stearman and was close to obtaining his pilot’s license before his health began to decline.

His family has decided to forgo traditional services in favor of planning a private celebration of his life at a later date.
