Miller, Mary Mandeville

Miller, Mary Mandeville 2Mary June Miller, of Peterstown, West Virginia, entered her Heavenly home on January 16th, 2026. After a life filled with devotion, kindness, and unwavering faith, June was welcomed into the arms of her Savior, where she now rests in eternal joy.

June was born on June 23rd, 1935, in Athens, West Virginia. She was the daughter of Finley and Florence Mandeville and was a lifelong resident of Monroe County. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, the love of her life, Steve Miller.

June was a graduate of Peterstown High School and Concord College, where she earned a degree in English and Library Science. She later received her master’s degree in English from Radford University where she dedicated 30 years to teaching, inspiring and guiding students at Peterstown High School, Giles High School, and during one year of teaching in Columbia, South Carolina. Throughout her career, she touched countless young lives.

She was a member of Appalachian Christian Center in Peterstown. Also, she was an avid artist and a member of the Beckley Art Group. Alongside her husband, Steve, she cultivated beautiful plants for the Peterstown Greenhouse and Nursery, now Gore’s Greenhouse. She lovingly tended many flower gardens around her home and especially enjoyed growing roses.

June is survived by her son, Dr. Stephen Miller and wife Janet, and her daughter Bobbie Tuggle and husband Bill, all of Peterstown. She was the proud grandmother of three grandsons: Brad Miller and wife Chelsea of Katy, TX; Mitchell Tuggle and wife Ashley of Charleston, WV; and Dr. Tanner Tuggle of Laramie, WY. She was blessed with six great grandchildren whom she adored: Graydon Tuggle, Hattie May Tuggle, Zebulun Tuggle, Lanie Miller, Delia Miller, and Wade Miller. She also leaves behind her loyal companion, Piper, whom she loved dearly.

June held a special appreciation for her neighbor, Marvin Mooney, who was always willing to lend a helping hand. The family expresses heartfelt thanks to her dedicated caregivers—Brenda Martin, Sherie Melvin, Connie Wilson, Christie Wilson, Nancy Ford, and Charlotte Biddle—for their compassionate and incredible care. Additional thanks are extended to Lewisburg Hospice for the comfort and support they provided during her final days.
