Roop, Bernice Thomas

Bernice Thomas Roop of Christiansburg, VA passed away peacefully on August 8, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents Mallie and Irene Thomas; sisters, Faye Thomas, Norlee Grissom and Althie Boggs. Brothers, Larry Thomas and MG Thomas. Along with children, Wilbur Oldham and Barbara Freeman.

Left to cherish Bernice’s memory are her husband, Bobby Roop; children, Parker Roop (Charlene), Jackie Roop, Robyn Oldham-Spinaci, and Tommy Roop. As well as her sister Ethyleen Stone.

Bernice worked at Hubbell lighting for thirty years. She was a church secretary at Mount Tabor United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener. Was a master at canning. Bernice was the President of the Woodman. She also enjoyed church activities, singing in the choir, spending time with her family and friends, and traveling. Exercising, cooking and baking. Shopping black Friday sales. Everyone who she met loved and adored her.

The family would like to thank Good Sam Hospice, RN Hylea, RN Brittany, aide Shannon, and Todd Triplett.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 2:00pm on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00pm with the burial following in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
