Williams, Wanda St. Clair
Wanda Louise St. Clair Williams, affectionately known as “Porky,” passed away on August 4, 2024, at the age of 75. Wanda grew up on Hilltop Road walking fields, picking berries, and playing with her many siblings and cousins.
She shared a loving and devoted marriage of 57 years with her husband, Barry Williams. Even through the trials and tribulations of life, their bond was a testament to true love and partnership, creating a strong foundation for their family. During the last seven years of her battle with dementia, Barry provided exceptional care, showing unwavering dedication and love as he supported her through the challenges of her illness.
Wanda attended Wesley’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Trigg, Virginia. She gave her life to Christ many years ago and was baptized in 2008 by her son-in-law, Micah. She lived her life for others, lovingly and unselfishly.
Wanda had a zest for life, always bringing joy and laughter wherever she went. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, going to bingo, and exploring yard sales. As much as she liked to keep the roads hot, one of her favorite pastimes was simply sitting on the swing on her carport, especially if it was raining. Wanda loved cleaning and was known to lock her kids out of the house to do so when they were younger. She had a beautiful smile and strived for perfectly styled hair, which she religiously colored since her twenties. Despite her fun-loving spirit, she was a spitfire you did not want to cross.
Above all, Wanda loved her family deeply. For 15 years, she dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mom, creating a loving home for her children. Later, she spent 20 years employed at Celanese, where she developed many close friendships and honed her crocheting and card-playing skills. During that time, she also held her most cherished role as MawMaw Porky. She loved her grandkids more than anything.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Thelma (Pyles) St. Clair; her brothers, Thomas Pyles and Larry St. Clair; and her special cousin, Kay Price.
She is survived by her loving husband, Barry Williams, and her devoted children: Anita Perdue (Todd), Tammy Frazier (Sonny), Kelly Steele (Micah), and B.J. Williams (Missy). She is also survived by her siblings: Shirley Goad (Jack), Brenda Lowery (Gary), Sue McManama, and Donald “Dickie” St. Clair (Lisa); her sisters-in-law, Sharon Kirby and Anna Lee Williams; her aunt, Helen Pyles; and her honorary sister and best friend, Linda Peck. Wanda’s legacy continues through her 11 grandchildren: Michael Perdue (Alexis), Kayla Cooper (Dustin), Hailey Gillespie, Will Frazier, Jacob Perdue, Trey Frazier, Macy Williams, Gabe Steele, Genevieve Steele, Nate Steele, and Noah Steele; and her 4 great-grandchildren: Thatcher, Ember, Alana, and Paisley.
Wanda’s life was also enriched by many special friends and neighbors, including Betty Bodamer, Donna Owens, Jackie Dalton, Karen Pack, Steve and Julie Patterson, along with countless others who were dear to her heart.
