Vanscoy, Jr., Roy K. 2Roy K. Vanscoy, Jr., age 80, of Peterstown, WV went to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Davis & McDaniel Care Center in Roanoke, VA. Born on May 7, 1946, in Elkins, WV, he was the son of the late Roy K. Vanscoy and Regina Digman Vanscoy.

Roy was a pastor of the Christian faith and a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in Vietnam. He was an AMVET life member and a member of the DAV. He served as chaplain for Post 145 American Legion; chaplain of Marine Corps League – Mountaineer Detachment 957; a member of Vietnam Veterans Association (VVA) and Assistant Chaplain of West Virginia State Marine Corps.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; his daughter, Susan Stewart; his son, Jason Vanscoy; sister, Peggy Moore; brother, Don Vanscoy and his grandparents.

Survivors include sons, Marshall Vanscoy and wife, Anna of Cashmere, WV and Cody Stewart of Washington, D.C.; brother, Danny Vanscoy and wife, Carmen of Ohio; three grandchildren, Jaimi Ridgeway (Brett), Marshall Vanscoy, Jr. (Casey) and Adam Vanscoy; and one great grandchild, Archer Ridgeway, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Minister Don Henegar officiating. Military honors will be conducted at the funeral home. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, VA.
