Touchdowns for Turkeys

Touchdowns for Turkeys 4Kroger and Virginia Tech Athletics are teaming up with Feeding Southwest Virginia to nourish neighbors. Kroger is donating turkeys for every touchdown this football season by the Virginia Tech Hokies.

Today the Virginia Tech football team will be packing 500 holiday food boxes that Feeding Southwest can distribute to the community this holiday season. Kroger is donating green beans, corn, tuna, rice, fruit, beans and oatmeal, as well as 500 turkeys to celebrate Touchdowns for Turkeys.

Feeding Southwest Virginia is grateful for Kroger and its dedication to reducing hunger in Southwest Virginia. Kroger has been a pivotal partner to Feeding Southwest Virginia and has continued to give back to its community in innovative ways. Feeding Southwest Virginia welcomes the Hokies as they pack 500 Holiday food boxes for families here in Feeding Southwest Virginia’s 26-county, 9-city region.

This donation from Kroger comes at a critical time during the holiday season. Food supply is down 20/40 percent from previous years at the Food Bank. Feeding Southwest Virginia needs help keeping up with the demand of our local pantries, which are requesting more food for their neighbors. Feeding Southwest Virginia is thankful for its partners who continue to care about food insecurity.
