Tanner, M. Earl

M Earl Tanner (Earl) passed away unexpectedly at his home the evening of September 23, 2026. Survived by his wife, Carolyn G Tanner, daughter Amy E. Tanner, son Chris Tanner, and son-in-law Jordan Margason, Earl spent a quiet but full life making connections everywhere.

After 30+ years of moving across the country with Fluor Daniel International Construction during his early adult years then 23 years post-retirement in Virginia with Lowes, Earl saw the country and made friends easily through his kindness, quick wit, and storytelling. Earl had a story for every occasion. He went from a country upbringing in Hopewell and Richmond, Virginia to seeing every corner of the United States and everything in between. He was hard working and extremely dedicated to his family. His wry smile and good humor will be missed.

There will be no funeral services as he did not like any kind of to-do. In lieu of gifts or flowers, please consider a gift in remembrance to a favorite charity, local food bank, shelter, or support center for those in need.
