Surratt, Violet Walls

Violet Ann Walls Surratt, age 91 of Pulaski, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at the Highland Ridge Center in Dublin.  She was born May 15, 1932 in Fries, Virginia to the late Louis Walls and Mary Etta Draughn.

In 2011 her beloved husband of 61 years, Chester Darrell “Chet” Surratt, preceded her in death, as did their son, Paul Keven Surratt (2018) and her brothers, Jerry Lee Childress of Dublin and Monty Anthony “Sam” Childress of Poolsville MD.

Violet Ann and her husband owned and operated C & A Cleaning Service for 29 years in Pulaski.  Throughout her life she devoted her love and energy to helping both family and friends when there was a need. Her door and heart were always open.

She is survived by son George Allen and wife Barbara of Galax; four grandchildren David Allen Surratt, Jason Paul Surratt, Paul Kevin Surratt II and Phillip Young; daughter-in-law June Anderson Surratt of Speedwell; sister-in-law Loretta Horne Surratt; brother Arvin Daniel “Ronnie” Childress and wife Jan of Sacramento CA; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Wednesday 10:00 A.M. August 30, 2023 in the Bower Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski.
