Sowers, Kimberly Evans

Kimberly Ann Sowers, 64, born December 3, 1961, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Friday, February 13, 2026. She was the cherished daughter of the late Bill Evans and her mother, Billie Boyd, who survives her. Kimberly was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose strength and determination shaped her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Aaron Sowers; her father, Bill Evans; and both sets of grandparents.

Later in life, she returned to school while raising her son and being a loving wife. Through hard work and perseverance, she earned her Registered Nursing degree from Blue Ridge Community College. She began her nursing career at Pardee Hospital, where she eventually became Head Shift Nurse.

Kimberly later transitioned into hospital computer systems consulting, working with Perot Systems (founded by Ross Perot), Encore Health Resources, and IBM. Her work took her across the country and allowed her to form many lasting friendships.

In retirement, she returned home to Peterstown, West Virginia, where she cherished peaceful evenings watching sunsets from her porch with her husband Joe.

She is survived by her son, Heath Sowers and his wife Rachel; her two grandsons, Owen and Eli; her sister, Kerri Evans; her uncles, Bobby and Danny; her sister-in-law and husband; many nieces, nephews, and extended family; dear friends throughout Peterstown, WV, Arden, NC, and across the United States; and her beloved French bulldog, Jethro.

Visitation will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 21, 2026, with funeral services to follow at 1:00 PM, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Walt Bonnell officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunset View Cemetery in Bozoo, WV.
