Shockley, Sonny Ray

Sonny Ray Shockley, age 57, left this world unexpectedly on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at his home in Hinton, WV. Born May 10, 1968, in Richmond, VA, he was the son of the late Bobby Irvin Shockley Sr. and Peggy June Kanode Shockley.

Sonny loved and cherished his dog, Bear. He lived most of his life in Lindside, WV, on his family’s farm, doing what he loved most – riding horses and running the farm, that was his passion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Lee Shockley; and one sister, Melissa Hardbarger.

He is survived by his siblings, Rex Kanode and wife Amanda of Lindside, WV, their children, Mandy, Rex Jr., Latasha, Jesse, Makayla, and Chloe; Janice Compton of Princeton, WV, her children Justin Rose, Rebecca Bennett, and Farrah Compton; Racheal Wickline Maxey and husband Jonathan of Princeton, WV, her children Loriann Medlar, Sean Wickline, Jamar Wickline, Jonathan Maxey Jr., and Keyonna Wickline; and Missy Wickline and partner Dustin Johnson of Pearisburg, VA.
