Rickborn, Mary Perdue
Mary Magdalene Perdue Rickborn, affectionately called “Maggie”, of Christiansburg, Virginia passed away peacefully on July 31, 2024. She was born in Giles County, Virginia on September 5, 1936.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur H. Rickborn; son, Terry Ray Gillenwater; sister, Myrtle Perdue; brother, John Wesley Perdue and her parents, James Garfield and Minnie Frazier Perdue.
While having spent the last few years of her life in North Carolina near her daughter and grandchildren, she spent most of her life in the beautiful New River Valley of Virginia. Mary retired from DJR Enterprises in Radford, Virginia.
Mary loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, sports, reading and spending time with her family. She loved all types of music and found great pleasure in singing and playing various musical instruments.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia G. and Michael Rosasco of Greensboro; grandchildren, Matthew James Gillenwater and Candace, of Christiansburg, Macy Crigler Klein and Jordan of Greensboro, Spencer Thomas Crigler and Jenna of Charlotte, Brandon Nicholas Crigler of Greensboro; great grandchildren, Brooklynne, Zachary and Lillian Dowdy, Henry Fielding Klein, Levi Jordan Klein and Carson Capri Crigler; two sisters, Lizzie Perdue Johnston of Pembroke and Shirley Perdue Pannell of Warrenton; Sister-in-law, Dorothy Foster Perdue of Pearisburg; two brothers, James H. Perdue of Staffordsville, and Dennis H. Perdue and Traci of Vinton; and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am until 11:00am on Friday, August 9, 2024, at the Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg. Funeral services will begin at 11:00am with the burial following in the Highland Memory Gardens/Sunrise Burial Park in Dublin. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff at Harmony at Greensboro and AuthoraCare Hospice for their devotion and support.
