Ratcliffe, Essie Wade 4Essie Irene Wade Ratcliffe, 105, of Radford, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, April 6, 2024. She was born in Floyd County on March 26, 1919, to the late Charlie Lee Wade and Leona Harriet Dulaney Wade. She was the widow of the late Rev. Paul E. Ratcliffe. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Carrie Phillips, Ola Cox, Velma Reed, and India Goad; and brother, Denver Wade.

Essie was a member of the West Radford Church of God since 1964. She worked at Kenrose and the box factory until about 70 years of age. After retirement, she then went back and received her high school diploma, a Graduate of Biblical Studies, and a Doctorate Degree in Biblical Studies.

Survivors include two special nieces, Barbara Farmer (Dallas) of Riner, and Bessie McCormick (Howard) of Dublin; nephew, Denton Reed of Dublin; and she was a special aunt to many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Commonwealth Senior Living Radford and Medi-Hospice for the loving care given to Essie.

The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Danny Newman officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery in Radford.
