Rakes, Barbara A.

Barbara A. Rakes of Blacksburg, Va., passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 30, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hobart and Margaret Rakes, sisters, Cora and Nora Rakes, and her life partner, Ervin Craigett.

She is survived by her children, Christopher Jones, Robyn Sulloway, and Alexander Roberts, Jr., many grand and great-grand babies, siblings, Hobart and Edna Rakes, Dora Hooper, and James and Kaye Rakes.

She was a social butterfly who loved friends and family alike and never met a stranger.

A graveside service will be held Friday September 5, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg Va.
