Raines, Sr., Bruce Gregory

Husband, Father and Grandfather Bruce Gregory Raines Sr., of Christiansburg, VA, entered into the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, August 9th, 2023 at his home. He was 83.

He was an active member of Open Door Baptist Church and was retired from Virginia Tech. He loved hunting, golfing and the outdoors. He enjoyed being with his family and the annual family reunions.

He was preceded in death by his Father Woodrow Raines, Mother Jewel Helms Raines, daughters Julie Raines, Tammy Epperly, grand-daughter Amy Raines, great grand-daughter Brianna Speaks and Son In Law J.W. Berry.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 51 years Shirley Raines, Children Cindy Plaugher, Theresa Plaugher, Melissa Graham (Tracy), Bradley Plaugher (Shelly) Bruce Raines Jr (Susan) Kelley Plaugher, Barry Raines, Son In Law Don Epperly, 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 2 Brothers, Jeff Raines (Pat) Gary Raines (Lisa) and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 11th at McCoy Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 12th at Open Door Baptist Church in Christiansburg VA at 2 p.m. with Pastor Mike Johnston officiating. Burial will follow at North Fork Baptist Church in Ellett Valley.
