Osborne, Frank Nielson

Frank Nielson Osborne, 81, of Radford, Va., died peacefully on September 24, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Alexander Osborne, II, and Mattie Lewis Osborne, and his brother, Joseph Alexander Osborne III, all of Williamsburg, Va.

He is survived by a sister and brother, Cynthia Hughes and William Lewis Osborne (Lou)); sister-in-law, Sheri Osborne, three children, Joseph Alexander Osborne IV, Laura Osborne Kirk, and Marian Osborne DeHart; two grandchildren, Vittoria LoMascolo Tripp and Michael Duncan Hammond; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Born in Salem, Va., he grew up in Williamsburg, Va., and was graduated from James Blair High School. He worked at his family newspaper, The Virginia Gazette as a teenager, eventually moving to Richmond, and finally to Radford, spending his long career at Verizon phone company. Frank is a member of Grove United Methodist Church and the Lions Club. He spent much of his spare time playing softball, racquetball, and volunteering for the community delivering Meals on Wheels, and serving on the boards of IDA and Big Brother/Big Sisters.

He will be lovingly remembered at a Celebration of Life on Friday, September 30, at Grove United Methodist Church in Radford. Visitation begins at 1:30 pm, and services follow at 2:00 pm. Flowers are welcome as are donations to Grove United Methodist Church or your local animal shelter.
