Musical Classics–Around the World to Floyd County 1Austria, France, Italy, Hungary, Russia, Romania, Germany, and the USA–music from these countries will echo throughout the handsome Floyd Event Center.

Sunday, June 19 at 3 p.m. Virginia’s Blue Ridge Music Festival will present a concert featuring string, woodwind, and brass members of the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra. Maestro David Stewart Wiley will conduct the chamber orchestra and play piano, and his “Parting Ways” will have its Floyd premiere.

Wiley will be joined by soloists Akemi Takayama on the violin, Joseph Pecoraro on the classical guitar, and Julee Hickcox on the flute.

Monday, June 20, 6:30-7:30 p.m. a free concert will be given at the Floyd Event Center. Maestro Wiley, Takayama, and Mikkelsen will perform two masterworks by Rachmaninoff and Beethoven. Also featured will be violinist Elizabeth Shelor Linkous of Floyd County in a solo by Bartok.

The Floyd Event Center is located at 188 Eco Village Trail SE, Floyd, VA. From US 221, turn at Franklin Pike, go about 1.2 mile, turn right into Wall Residences. The Center is down the hill.
