Moye, Birdie Burton

Birdie Burton Moye, 70, of Pearisburg, VA, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023. Birdie was born November 16, 1952, the daughter of the late James & Rowena Brumfield Burton.

Birdie worked for the Pearisburg Public Library for 38 years until she retired. She found a connection with everyone who came into the library and cared for every single person. She found lifelong friends through her work at the library, especially with Lori Porterfield, Jill Skidmore, and the late Sandra Robertson. She always stated that they were family.

Birdie enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading books, sewing and cross-stitching, traveling and watching the Baltimore Orioles.

Birdie is preceded in death by her parents, James & Rowena Brumfield Burton, her brother, Robert Burton and her sister, Betty Burton.

Birdie is survived by her husband, Douglas Moye, of Pearisburg, VA; her sons & daughter-in-law, Travis Moye and Brandon & Kristin Moye, all of Pearisburg, VA; her daughter, Brittany Moye, of Bland, VA; two granddaughters, Clementine Moye and Georgia Moye; her brother, Jamie Burton, of Pearisburg, VA; her sister & brother-in-law, Anna & Alvin Holt, of Staffordsville, VA; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jessica Jones and Linda Wilson.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 12, 2023 at 6:00 P.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, VA, with Jordan Midkiff officiating. She will be buried privately at the Southwest Virginia Veteran’s Cemetery, Dublin, VA, at a later date.
