McCauley, Madison Jade
Madison Jade McCauley, beloved daughter of Micah and Angela McCauley, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 2:22 p.m. surrounded by love and being held in her Daddy’s arms. She was 18 years old.
Madison will be forever loved and cherished by her father, Micah McCauley; mother, Angela McCauley; sister, Emma McCauley; brother, Eli McCauley; maternal grandparents, Jim and Sheila Hall; paternal grandparents, Jerome and Tanya Evans; aunt, Cindy (Daniel) Harrison and cousins, Taarna and JD Harrison; uncle, Jerton (Krystal) Evans and cousins, Braylee, Britton, and Brielle Evans; and special friend, Grace Shinn.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Jim and Gail Hall; great-grandparents, Donald and Juanita Stuart; and great-grandmother, Francis Hilson.
Madison will be lovingly remembered by her extended family, friends, classmates, teachers, the SOFT community, doctors, nurses, therapists, and all whose lives were touched by her pure joy, contagious smile, and beautiful spirit.
Among the most precious parts of Madison’s life was the special bond she shared with her sister, Emma. There were moments that may have seemed small at the time but will forever hold meaning: time spent together at home for family movie nights and game nights, the family adventures we shared, and the silliness that occurred daily within the walls of our home. There are countless little memories that only a sister could fully understand. Mermaid Spas with Madison, Emma, and Grace will forever be a core memory. Those moments became part of a bond that will never be lost. Emma loved Madison in a way that was uniquely hers, showing her care and devotion every day. Being Madison’s sister was an important part of Emma’s story, just as being Emma’s big sister was an irreplaceable part of Madison’s. Theirs was a bond that words can never fully capture and a love that will never end.
The last few years Eli has brought never ending entertainment and joy to Madison. They loved to snuggle in bed together and watch Paw Patrol. Madison was especially entertained when Eli would be mischievous and “got in trouble”. Madison would belly laugh and crack herself up when he was being corrected. We used to have to pretend Emma was in trouble to get that full belly laugh but Eli brought that laugh on frequently with his shenanigans. As he grows, we pray his heart will recall the fun times they shared.
A special and heartfelt thank-you goes to Dr. Zairha Snider, who cared for Madison throughout her entire life. For over 18 years, Dr. Snider was far more than Madison’s pediatrician. She was a trusted advocate, a steady source of guidance, and a compassionate presence throughout the complexities of Madison’s medical journey. She helped our family navigate countless challenges, offering not only her medical expertise but also understanding, reassurance, and unwavering emotional support. Her care extended beyond Madison to embrace our entire family, and the difference she made in our lives is immeasurable. We will forever be grateful for the compassion, dedication, and love she showed Madison and our family.
Our family would also like to express our deepest gratitude to the Carilion New River Valley Hospice team for the extraordinary care they provided Madison and the compassion they extended to our entire family as we loved her through her final days. During one of the most difficult and heartbreaking chapters of our lives, the hospice team surrounded Madison with comfort, dignity, and love while providing our family with guidance, reassurance, and unwavering support. We will forever be grateful.
Throughout her 18 years, Madison made a lasting impact not only on her family but also on countless people whose lives she touched. Her legacy will live on, reaching farther than any number of years she could have spent here on Earth. Madison lived for 18 years, 5 months, and 15 days with pure determination, a streak of stubbornness, and incredible strength.
The family welcomes all who knew and loved Madison to join them in honoring her memory.
Services will be held at Community Life Church in Radford, Virginia, with arrangements entrusted to Mullins Funeral Home. The service will be led by Pastors Rod and Renee Hidalgo and Pastor Josh and Renae Bradley.

Please wear colorful clothing as we gather to celebrate Madison’s life and all the color she added to our world.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SOFT (Support Organization for Trisomy 18, 13, and Related Disorders), an organization made up of families walking the same trisomy journey. Through SOFT, families celebrate together, support one another, and grieve together. While there are several ways to support SOFT, the SOFT Conference holds a special place in our hearts. Please note “In Memory of Madison McCauley” when making your donation. https://trisomy.org/soft-donation-page/#/
Our family finds comfort in remembering that our hardest days are the beginning of Madison’s best days. Madison had many other Trisomy friends waiting to greet her in Heaven to run, play, laugh, dance, talk and sing together in ways their Earthly bodies did not allow.
