Lowery, Sharon Rucker 4Sharon “Peaches” Lynn Rucker Lowery, of Narrows, Virginia beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, departed this life peacefully on April 15, 2024, in Roanoke, Virginia, leaving behind a legacy of love, care, and cherished memories. Born on October 30, 1961, Sharon was a beacon of joy and kindness throughout her 62 years.

Sharon’s life was defined by her unwavering devotion to her family. She is survived by her adoring husband, William “Bill” Lowery, with whom she shared countless moments of laughter and love. She also shared these kinds of moments of love and heritage with her mother, Celosia Ann Stainback Johnston. Her daughters, Silver Conner (John Ratcliffe) and Keisha Lowery (CJ Meador), were the apples of her eye, and she took immense pride in their accomplishments. Sharon also held a special place in her heart for her two special daughters, Erin Fisher and Katie Minnick. The bond she shared with her grandchildren, Keira Conner and Emily Lowery, was filled with warmth and guidance. Sharon’s furbaby, Lexi, was a constant companion, providing comfort and joy in her daily life.

The family circle that Sharon cherished included her brothers, Robert Rucker (Kelly) and Garland Rucker (Robin Hale); her sisters, Paula Rucker and Brenda Skauroneck; brothers-in-law, Gary and Brenda Lowery, Charlie and Debbie Lowery; sisters-in-law, Sissy Neice and Donnie, and Lynn Rodgers and Ken; as well as her special cousin Patty Neice and Jimmy. Her life was further enriched by many more special cousins, nieces, nephews, and her Wayside Mission Church family who will all miss her deeply. Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Charles Johnston; her sister, Debbie Blankenship; her grandparents, Doran and Beulah Stainback; her mother-in-law, Betty Lowery; and her beloved granddaughter, Emma Nichole Conner.

Professionally, Sharon dedicated many years of her life as a Certified Nursing Assistant first at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital, then at Riverview Nursing Home, where she provided compassionate care to those in need. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her work, touching the lives of many as she also served as a caregiver in her community. Sharon’s kindhearted nature was evident in her time spent at Tiny Feet Store in Narrows, where she brought comfort and support to families and their little ones.

Sharon’s faith was a cornerstone of her existence. She found solace and strength in reading the Bible and imparted the wisdom she gleaned to those around her. Her spiritual life was a testament to her belief in kindness, forgiveness, and the importance of family. Sharon’s love for her family was her most treasured attribute, and she seized every opportunity to spend time with them, creating memories that will be forever held dear.

Throughout her life, Sharon’s presence was a source of comfort and joy to everyone she encountered. Her smile, her gentle touch, and her ability to listen with an open heart made her a cherished figure in her community.

The family will receive friends in a time of visitation on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Kendall Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Jerry Hagerman and Sam Shires officiating. Funeral Services will conclude in Angels Rest Memorial Gardens in Narrows, Virginia where she will be laid to rest.
