Local Business Owner Speaks on Affordable Childcare
Haden Polseno-Hensley, Co-Owner and Co-Founder of Red Rooster Coffee Co., spoke in front of the Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education in Washington, DC on January 13, 2026.
Polseno-Hensley stressed the importance of affordable, reliable childcare for employees and Red Rooster’s support of its workforce by
having an on-site childcare facility. He went on to state, “One benefit that is less quantifiable is the increased level of community in our company, including the relationships between the children that have attended Yellow Hen together. The children are bonded together in a uniquely strong fashion, and adding to that bond, our employees know each other’s children, which creates a fraternal feeling that is hard to replicate.”
Bringing together opinions from both business owners and professionals in childcare, the hearing, “Who’s Watching the Kids? How Employers, Innovators, and Parents Are Solving America’s Child Care Crunch,” seeks to examine how the private sector is playing an important role in addressing the cost and availability of child care. The subcommittee falls under the Committee on Education and Workforce and is led by Subcommittee Chairman Kevin Kiley (R-CA) and includes Congressional members from both major parties.
