Lawson, Betty Puckett 4Betty Joan Puckett Lawson, age 96 of Draper, died Monday, June 12, 2023 at Lewis Gale Hospital – Montgomery. She was born on May 15, 1927 in Yukon, WV, and was the daughter of the late Violet Adams Puckett and the late Henry Terry Puckett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Morris O’Dell Lawson: siblings; Terry Puckett, Mary Lou Lusk, Anita Toller, Milton Puckett: Son-in-law; Randy Smith.

She is survived by her three children; Connie Smith of Pulaski, Larry Lawson of Draper, and Terry Lawson of Draper. Grandchildren: Traci (Bryant) Boyd of Rock Hill, SC, Terry Mo Lawson of Draper, Brandon (Bethany) Lawson of Max Meadows, James (Nicole) Smith of Pulaski, Brooke (Dustin) Cooper of Hardy, Tara (Michael) Ashman of Raleigh, NC, and Aaron Lawson of Draper. Great-Grandchildren: Adam, Bailli, Tanner Lee, Carter, Jaxon, Gavin, Ember, Lili, Hazel Belle, Tiegen, Harlee, Troy. Special friends include Mary Lawson of Draper, Shirley Hannah of Blacksburg, and Shirley Rigney of Pulaski, and Mary Rupe of Draper.

An Appalachian Matriarch, she was the sun at the center of her family’s universe. She was a source of constant comfort to family, friends, and the Draper community. She was a life-long member of the former Draper Christian Church (DOC). She leaves a legacy of love, compassion, and grace. She meant so much to so many!

Funeral service will be held Thursday June 15, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Seagle Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Osborne officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. Pallbearers will be James Smith, Brandon Lawson, Adam Boyd, Carter Smith, Dustin Cooper, Bryant Boyd, Bill Alexander, Ronnie Alexander. The family will receive friends on Thursday at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Flowers are appreciated, but for those who wish, they may make donations in her memory to any local charity.
