Kersey, Gene Spangler 4Gene Spangler Peck Kersey, 98, passed away on Monday morning, July 24, 2023, in the Stonerise Nursing Home at Lindside, West Virginia. She was born in Peterstown, West Virginia on Sunday, April 26, 1925, to the late Clarence and Pearle Jarvis Spangler.

She was a member of the Appalachian Christian Church in Peterstown, West Virginia. Gene was a very “vibrant” person who could do almost anything, a perfectionist in the highest degree. Gene wore many hats, loved to cook, and garden, she spent many hours working and remodeling her home. Gene always had a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend who will be missed by everyone who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Charles W. Peck, Jr. (Buck) and her second husband William W. Kersey Jr.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Donna Akers and husband Mark of Narrows, Virginia, son Wayne Peck and wife Brenda of Lindside, West Virginia, sister Barbara Morgan of Scotts Depot, West Virginia, one grandson Gale Peck and wife Michelle of Peterstown, West Virginia and three great grandchildren Holly Peck and Jacob of Narrow, Virginia, Elizabeth Dodd, and Zach of Fairlea, West Virginia and Misty Cline of Peterstown, West Virginia.

The family would like to give a “very” special thank you to Gene’s devoted care gives Linda Allen, Kathy Gibson, Holly Peck and Michelle Peck.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 11:00 am at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, West Virginia with Pastor Mike Biggs officiating the service. Burial will follow at Peterstown Cemetery in Rich Creek, VA.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, July 27, 2023, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home.
