Jones, Ruth Evangelina

Ruth Evangelina Jones, age 66, of Christiansburg died, Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at her home. She was born in Christiansburg on February 9, 1960, to the late James Frank and Shirley Ann Bane Jones during the worst blizzard Montgomery County has ever seen. The snow drifts were so large she was 10 days old before her parents could bring her home from the hospital.

She is survived by her son, Roger Eugene Womack; sisters and brother-in-law, Sherry Linkous (Billy) who was also her caretaker, Ruby Williams, and Mary Jones; many aunts and uncles; several special nieces and nephews; and her two best friends, Melody Givens and Marlene Lincoln.

Ruth was fun and she loved her family and cats dearly. She also loved her church and pastor Dallas Vines.

The family extends a special thanks to Carilion hospice for their care and support during Ruth’s illness, especially Mandy.

Funeral services will be held at a later date.
