Johnson, Betty Lester

Betty Sue Lester Johnson, age 80, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Bluestone Health and Rehabilitation in Bluefield, WV. Born January 7, 1945, in Bozoo, WV, she was the daughter of James Everette and Euna Miller Lester.

Betty worked for years at the Oxford Sewing Factory in Pearisburg, VA. She enjoyed crocheting, taking pictures, and cooking, especially turkey dinners. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William F. “Buzz” Johnson.

Survivors include three sons, Bill Johnson and wife Becky of Covington, VA, Bobby Johnson and wife Kristie of Bluefield, WV, and Brian Johnson and wife Cammie of Pembroke, VA; two brothers, Charles Lester and wife Rachel of Hans Creek, WV, and Tommy Lester and wife Kathy of Peterstown, WV; five grandchildren, Sarah, Emma, Alexis, Brandy, and Chad; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and her best friend, Sue Payton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Tim Sanderson officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until time of services on Sunday at the funeral home.
