Irvin, Peggy Hopkins
Peggy Joyce Hopkins Irvin, 89, of Pembroke, VA, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Peggy was born on October 27, 1934, in Narrows, VA and was a daughter of the late John Elsworth Hopkins, Jr. and Lora Esther Chambers Hopkins.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie L. Irvin, a daughter, Sharon L. Irvin, a brother, Johnny E. Hopkins, III, 3 sisters, Nancy McDaniel, Becky Lester and Sandy Evans.
Peggy was a graduate of Narrows High School. Peggy was a familiar face around Giles County having worked at McLean Drug in Pearisburg for 35 years. Peggy was the heart and soul of her family and our go-to person for every project or our fixit needs. Her family was her top priority, and her love and joy grew with each generation. She was smart, artistic, generous and welcoming to all. She was the granny of storybooks, she fed us, loved us, read to us, entertained us with games and stories and made us feel special.
She is survived by a daughter, Melanie I. Huffman (Jerry) of Pembroke, grandson, Brandon R. Williams (Jennifer) of Christiansburg, granddaughter, Lindsey W. Ramey (Nathan) of Pearisburg, great granddaughter, Braelynn S. Williams, 4 great grandsons, Jackson and Lukas Ramey, Alex and Ian Perkins, 1 sister, Mary H. Brown of Pearisburg and numerous nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 12, 2024, at 2pm at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg, VA, with the Rev. Gary Poff officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour before the service from 1 – 2 pm.
