Hoops, Jr., George William
George William Hoops, Jr., age 79, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024, at the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. Born November 12, 1944, in Bluefield, WV, he was the son of the late George William Hoops, Sr. and Mary Fulton Hoops.
George was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Bluefield for 23 years. He worked for WV Paving and loved to go camping, bike riding, and playing pool. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Mitchum Hoops; daughter, Rhonda Hale; two sisters, Betty Kirby and Sylvia Johnson; and two brothers, Joe Hoops and David Hoops.
Survivors include two daughters, Cathy Bennett of Radford, VA, and Cindy Perdue of Talcott, WV; one son, George W. Hoops, III of Michigan; one brother, Garland Hoops of Peterstown, WV; four sisters, Brenda Brookman of Rich Creek, VA, Phyllis Brookman and Cathy Frederick, both of Peterstown, WV, and Betty Sexton of Bluefield, WV; grandchildren, Ashley Bowers, Logan Weikle, Eric Stanley, Briana Pertee, Zoe Hoops, Zane Hoops, and Samuel Hoops; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00PM on Friday, August 9, 2024, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Anthony Carter officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00PM until time of services on Friday at the funeral home.
