Holmes, Patsy Foster
Patsy Irene Foster Holmes, age 86, passed away on July 7, 2024, in Dublin, Virginia. She was born on February 4, 1938, in Pulaski, Virginia.
Patsy is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Anderson, of Dublin, Virginia, and adopted daughter, Beth Davis, and husband, James, of Pulaski, Virginia; and had 3 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick William Foster and Myrtle Elizabeth Mooney Foster, a husband, and daughter, Donna Elizabeth Holmes Hodge.
Patsy attended Dublin High School but spent most of her life as a homemaker. In the early 1980’s, she worked at AT&T briefly, but later contributed her skills as a substitute teacher at Riverlawn Elementary School, where she also assisted in the library. Committed to community service, she also was involved with the Virginia Cooperative Extension, where she served as Club President for clubs located in the Belspring and Shiloh communities of Pulaski County. She also was a Girl Scout leader within Pulaski County, leading several troops, and helped at Girl Scout summer day camps.
Patsy was a founding, charter member of the Fairlawn Church of God. Throughout the years, she served within the church under almost every ministry. She taught Sunday School, worked as a youth leader, and helped with youth camp. She also worked with the children’s church, the ladies ministry, and was the Sunday School secretary for several years. She also put together yearly programs to honor congregants for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Veteran’s Day.
Her family would like to thank the nurses of Highland Ridge Rehab facility for their amazing care for Patsy during her short stay with them.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Horne Funeral & Cremation Services of Christiansburg, Virginia is assisting the family during this time.
