Haynie III, Mark Lowrey 4Mark Lowrey Haynie, III., 86 of Narrows, VA., went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 24, 2023, at his home. Mark was born on December 7, 1936, in Charleston, WV and was a son of the late Mark Lowrey Haynie, Jr., and Marie Snowden Mounts Haynie. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 great grandchildren.

Mark was a 30 year employee of Union Carbide/Elkem Metals, retiring as their chief chemist and was a 10 year employee of Mississippi Lime retiring as the Plant Manager of the Blue Ridge Lime Company. He was a longtime member of the Pearisburg First United Methodist Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher, a lay leader, help as a co-coordinator of the older adult ministry and was a delegate to the Methodist Holston Annual Conference. Mark loved golfing, spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sports, school and church activities.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nancy Burgess Haynie of Narrows, daughter, Martha Haynie Cook (Larry) of Princeton, WV, 3 sons, David Haynie (Elizabeth) of Wilkesboro, NC, Mark L. Haynie (Diane) of Pearisburg, Tim A. Haynie (Tammy) of Fayetteville, WV, 10 grandchildren, Jonathan Cook (Emily), Alan Cook (Amy), Stephen Cook (Brittany), Zachary Haynie, Marcus Haynie (Frenda), Brooks Haynie, Eray Haynie (Meghann), Lucas Haynie, Audra Ferrell (Justin), Abbi Haynie and 5 great grandchildren, Trenton, Pierson, Rory Ann, Finn and Ripley.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 1pm at the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg with the Rev. Dr. Brian Burch and the Rev. Doug Armstrong officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the church 1 hour before the service from 12 – 1pm.
