Handy, Eric Kirk

Eric Kirk Handy, 52, a beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and brother passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at his home, in Peterstown, WV. He was born on October 21, 1973, in Mercer County, West Virginia. Eric touched the lives of all who knew and loved him.

Eric was the loving father to Gidget James, Dakota Handy and wife Crystal, Tyler Handy and wife Meagan, and Aidan Handy.

As a beloved brother, Eric shared a special bond with his brothers, Leonard S. Handy, lll and wife Kandi, and Austin Handy. He was also a treasured grandfather to several grandkids, and is mourned alongside his aunts, Loraine Handy and Melinda Handy; and uncles, Melvin Handy, Anthony Handy, and Jack Handy; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Eric was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Shultz, and father, Leonard Handy; and brother, Willie Handy.

Those who knew Eric will remember him as a true family man. You could always find him working out in the yard. He had a true passion for working on cars or lawnmowers or playing with the grandkids.

A memorial service will be at a later date including close family and friends.

The family, friends, and everyone touched by Eric’s life now mourn his passing even as they celebrate the time they had with him. His compassion, dedication, and joyful spirit will live on in their hearts always.
