Griffith Statement on CASH Act
Monday, December 28, 2020 – Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement regarding the CASH Act of 2020:
“Yesterday, the President signed the more than $2.3 trillion Omnibus, which included COVID relief. After signing it, the President issued a statement calling on Congress to increase the amount of money going to individuals AND to cut bloated government spending.
“Today, the Democrats in the House put forward a bill to increase the size of the individual checks, BUT did not put forward any of the President’s cut suggestions OR cuts to spending that they preferred.
“This is a typical Democrat compromise. We will give you increased spending, but we will not give you the cuts requested.
“Accordingly, I could not support this increased spending, at this time, without legitimate cuts as requested by the President.
“Hopefully with vaccines being distributed, our businesses and our economy will be back in operation soon. If not, we will have to examine additional relief in the new year.”
Background
Congressman Griffith supported the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations (HR 6074), the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (HR 6201), the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act (HR 748), and the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act (HR 266).

Ditto! You have plenty of money, food on the table, etc. There are so many people going without food, no roof over their heads, you should be ashamed!

Typical Republican response. You approved Payroll Protection free money to large corporations. That money was meant for small businesses. Ted Cruz got the oil companies who make billions in on it also. But when it comes to giving more money directly to the people, the purse strings dry up. Can’t do that. Griffith ran unopposed in 2020. Come on people, we can do better than this in SWVA!

Since Morgan took office, he has done nothing for the people of the New River valley. Vote him out!
