French, Jr., Thomas Clarence

French, Jr., Thomas Clarence 4It is with great sadness that the family of Thomas “Tommy” Clarence French, Jr. share his passing on Monday, August 28, 2023. Tommy was born on June 23, 1954, and was preceded in death by his wife Jennifer “Jenni” French, parents Thomas French, Sr., and Myrtes Martin Worrell, sister Diana White, and nephew Steven White.

Tommy spent many a day hunting the woods of Pulaski County searching for the perfect buck. He was also an avid horseshoe pitcher. Most recently he could also be found at the baseball field watching his grandson play baseball.

Tommy was a graduate of Pulaski County High School and retired from the Town of Pulaski Public Works Department after a long career. Many could have caught him pushing snow in the winter or helping with the road crews during the summer.

Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Mike French of Pulaski, sister Leslie Worrell Beckham and her husband Steve of Columbia, SC, step-daughter Lea Monday and her husband Doug of Max Meadows, step-son Council Compton and his wife Janelle of Pulaski, grandchildren Keily and Mason Monday of Max Meadows, nieces Katie Queen of Radford, Sarah Hanson and her husband Terry of Stuarts Draft, nephews Michael French and his wife Amy of Damascus, Lee Thomas White of Norfolk, and Allen Queen of Pulaski, and his honorary “red-headed step-child” Rachel Simmers of Pulaski. Several great-nieces and nephews and many cousins also remain along with his faithful companion, his cat Dixie.

A graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Pulaski on Friday, September 1, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. The family will receive friends briefly after the service at the cemetery.

In lieu of any flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Tommy’s name to any of the following: National Kidney Foundation in honor of the family who chose to donate a kidney to save Tommy’s life in 1983, or the Muscular Dystrophy Association in honor of his wife Jenni who fought Muscular Dystrophy for 31 years.
