Flood Advisory in Effect until 2pm
FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON.
* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE…Portions of southwest Virginia and west central Virginia, including the following counties, in southwest Virginia, Floyd and
Montgomery. In west central Virginia, Franklin and Roanoke.
* WHEN…Until 200 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 801 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen since Sunday evening.
– This includes the following streams and drainages…Back Creek, Beaverdam Creek, Blackwater River and Boothe Creek.
Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches are expected over the area through early this afternoon. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
