Fatal Crash in Floyd County

FLOYD, Va. — Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday night in Floyd County. The crash happened on March 21 around 8:50 p.m. along Black Ridge Road, about four miles south of Route 802.

According to preliminary reports, a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling south when it ran off the left side of the roadway and struck an embankment.

The driver, identified as 43 year old David Lee Conner of Hillsville, was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by state police.
