Desai, Mahesh Dayalji

Mahesh Dayalji Desai, 83, of Christiansburg passed away at his home August 29, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife Bharti, daughter Sangita, and parents Dayalji and Sumitra.

A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, he was born on October 5, 1939 in the village of Kanbad, Gujarat, India. After marriage, he moved his family to Leicester, England, Cherry Hill, NJ and eventually settled in Christiansburg, in 1981.

Mahesh is survived by his son Amit (Kerry) in McLean, VA; daughter Bhavika (James) in Raleigh, NC; and grandchildren Kieran, Ellie, Abby, and Leela. Additionally, he leaves behind brothers Harshad (Bharti), Narendra, sister Shushila, nieces and nephews, as well as a large extended family.

The family would like to thank his diligent caregivers of the last 2 years, Charlene Simpkins and Stephanie Smith.

The funeral service will be conducted at Horne Funeral Service and Crematory, 1300 N Franklin St, Christiansburg, VA 24073, on Sunday, September 03, 2023 at 10:00am.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Kidney Fund or the American Cancer Society.
