DeHart, Leonard Caley
Leonard Caley DeHart, 95, of Floyd, went to Heaven to ride his golden tractor on Saturday August 24, 2024. Caley served his country in the US Army as a tank commander.
He was a shop foreman for Bunch Construction that hauled coal, later he moved back to Floyd and started working at the Radford Army Ammunitions Plant. During this time he started farming and after 11 years of doing both he started farming full-time and he did this for the rest of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Riley and Maude DeHart; Brothers: Norman DeHart, Alfred DeHart, Sam DeHart; Sisters: Edna Harmon, Pauline Harris.
Survived by wife of 71 years: Janet Scott DeHart; one daughter: Sheila D. Bower (Kenneth); Granddaughter: Mandie V. Bishop (Travis); Great Grandchildren: Charity Bishop, Ella Bishop; one brother: Turner DeHart. Numerous Nieces and Nephews. Special Friend: Glen Tolbert.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday August 27, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Gardner Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Turpin, Pastor Dan Agee, Pastor Shawn Tanner officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1 PM until 3 PM prior to the service.
