Dawson, Robert

Dawson, Robert 2Robert “Bob” Dawson, 62, of Blacksburg, VA, passed away on May 20, 2026. Born on October 26, 1963 in Baltimore, Maryland, Bob was the beloved father of Taylor, Ash, Heather, and Jeddie, cherished partner of Sandy, and the baddest bass player in all the land.

He is survived by his children, his brother John Dawson and sister Cheryl Damron, and preceded in death by his father Kenneth Dawson, and mother Juanita Dawson.

Bob spent much of his life making music and taking excellent care of his family. He loved taking his time to enjoy a good cup of coffee and playing with his band, Roxburg. He was a biomedical engineer and project manager at Moog Inc. Those who knew him will remember his ability to fix anything and always be prepared for every possible situation. He lived and died by his running list – “Bob’s List” – and he had a magnificent green thumb. Bob loved a long evening drive, a nice tight harmony, celebrating the holidays, and he was often in awe of small moments. He never backed down from challenge.

He leaves behind countless memories with the people who loved him.

In lieu of a funeral, there will be a celebration of life – BobFest – held June 20th at 4pm at 411 Murphy Street, Blacksburg VA. This will be a potluck style jam sesh to celebrate his life, so feel free to bring some grub, any instrument you want to play, and stories to share.

He will be deeply missed. Rock on.
