Collins, Walter Wesley 2Walter Wesley Collins, 70, of Peterstown, WV, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at his home with his wife Deborah by his side. Walter was born October 15, 1955, in Covington, VA, and was the son of Hampton Collins and Violet Arthur Collins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Hampton Collins Jr., and one sister, Brenda Rogers.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Deborah McCoy Collins; sister, Teresa Perdue and husband Danny of Rich Creek, VA; several nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly; brothers-in-law, Danny Perdue of Rich Creek, VA, and Barry Wayne McCoy and wife Sharon of Rocky Gap, VA; sisters-in-law, Karen Taylor of Peterstown, WV, Connie Burton and Chuck of Narrows, VA, and Dixie, who has passed.

Walter was a 1974 graduate of Peterstown High School. He loved baseball and served as an umpire for the Little League for many years. Additionally, he loved hunting and fishing. Walter also had a special pet (Little Bit), who he loved very much.

Walter fought a hard battle for several years, and Deborah would like to thank all the family and friends for the love and support received during Walt’s long battle. She would also like to thank Peterstown Fire & Rescue for their help, along with Dr. Grube, Dr. Ripple, Dr. Gross, and the staff of Giles, Radford, and Roanoke Hospitals for the care they had given him. Lastly, a special thanks to their neighbors and friends, Debbie and George, for their support.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV, with Barry Harper officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00PM until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
