Collins, Danny Ray
Danny Ray Collins, known affectionately to friends and family as Ray, and formerly of Pembroke, Virginia passed away peacefully on March 13, 2025, under the care of Heritage Hall-Rich Creek, Virginia. Born on June 11, 1955, in Virginia, Ray was a son of the late Minor and Thelma Collins who lived for the beauty of the outdoors.
Ray’s early years in Virginia set the stage for a lifetime of cherished moments spent in nature. He was a man who found solace in the quiet of the woods, the thrill of the hunt, and the patience of fishing. Those who knew him will fondly remember Ray for his love of sitting outside, immersed in the beauty of the natural world. His passion for the outdoors was only matched by his love for wrestling and the classic television series Gunsmoke, which brought him countless hours of enjoyment.
Family was the cornerstone of Ray’s life, and he was a beloved brother to Michael Collins (Nicole) and Donnie Lee Collins (Christine). His playful spirit and kind heart extended to his furbaby Mitzy, who was the love of his life and a constant companion. Ray’s passing has left a void in the hearts of his adoring nieces, nephews, and aunts, who will miss his presence.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas Minor Collins Sr. and Thelma Lang Collins, and his siblings, Douglas Minor Collins Jr. and Randy Collins. The memories of their shared laughter and love will continue to live on in the stories and recollections of those who were fortunate enough to know them.
Ray’s life was a testament to the values of loyalty, respect for nature, and the importance of family bonds. His legacy is one of kindness, a generous spirit, and a life well-lived. He will be remembered for his ability to see the beauty in the simplest things and for his unwavering commitment to those he held dear.
