Chick-fil-a and Veterans
I am writing this message to you today because me and my husband are outraged by the lack of respect for our Veterans from our local Chick-Fila in Christiansburg. Earlier today my husband who is a Veteran and who proudly served went through their drive thru and was told that he no longer could have the military discount that they were only giving it to active members now.
This is not right and it is a slap in the face to the great men and women of this country who have proudly served to protect all of us and this is how places are treating them. It’s not right and we all need to take a stand for them because we owe them so much for what they have done for us and our freedom. I am posting below the message my husband put on social media earlier today regarding this.
Did I join the military for military discounts? absolutely not!!! But when I received a military discount at certain places it’s nice to be appreciated. For years I have received a discount at a fast food restaurant, but today that changed. Now I understand new owners come in take over and policies change. If I had pulled up and they told me that they no longer offered a military discount, then I’d be like OK no big deal. That was not the case……basically ” veterans don’t matter”. They said we only offer it to one’s who are in the military now. The woman seemed to have an attitude about it when she told me.If you offer a military discount it should be for all past and present. Whats next? A soldier who hasnt been deployed dont get the discount but the one with a combat patch does?!? Christiansburg Chick-fil-A, you may have lost a customer today!!!

Any company has the right to offer or cancel any special promotion. I’ll give you an actual example I ran across. In my town the was a restaurant offing a veteran, military discount except for one of their locations that is literally across the street from an Air Force base. A business just can’t afford to give a discount to EVERYONE at a particular store. Also here is another example- Pizza Hut offers a discount. Of course an individual franchisee may not offer a discount.
I operate a FREE resource for veteran, military and first responders, www.VeteranBargains.com. The site lists almost 1000 businesses. Mya advise would be take advantage of the discounts you can get. If someone doesn’t offer a discount, take your $$$ somewhere else.

Yes, I do have one comment. When will folks whom are educated, by law mind you, learn to make one little change when speaking to or about VET-ER-ANS and stop cutting us short by NOT using all three syllables. I learned English in grade school, how about you???

And remember they would not serve two men , that they said were supposedly gay, and that chic fil la, had christian values. So will they one of these days decide not to sell to blacks, or non christians?

Oh, stop whining. I am a veteran also and I don’t feel disrespected by them no longer giving a discount. What about all the other fast food places that don’t give a discount for veterans? You didn’t take the time to mention them. Just be glad you got a discount for a while. Veterans don’t need discounts to know they did a great job for our country.
