Carpenter, Edgar Dewey
Edgar “Eddie” Dewey Carpenter, 78, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2026. He was born November 3, 1947, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Earnest Carpenter and Rose Smith Carpenter and godparents, Frank and Ruby Carpenter Hamm.
He was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Ann Atkins; and brothers, Jerry Carpenter, and Thomas Clarke.
He is survived by his sister, Nancy Jarrell and son, Mike Altizer (Shannon); brother, Dale Clarke; cousins, Mildred and Roger Lowe; and longtime friend, Peggy Hungate.
He was a longtime resident of Radford and retired from Radford University. He was a decorated veteran of the U. S. Army having served in Viet Nam from 1967-68.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford, Virginia. Burial will be private.
