Callahan, Stephen Miller
Stephen Miller Callahan, age 74, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2026 at his daughter’s home in Currie, North Carolina. Born October 22, 1951 in Welch, West Virginia to the late Louis Miller Callahan and Virginia Dare Webb Callahan. He was also preceded in death by his brother & sisters-in-law Danny and Brenda Callahan and Judy Callahan.
Stephen was a veteran of the United States Army, a long distant truck driver, an avid country music fan who loved NASCAR races and spending time with his family and having cookouts.
He became the person that picked up his great grandson, River, from school every day from kindergarten and first grade and kept his truck parked. Some of his last words to his daughter, Missy, Can I talk to you about something? What would you like to talk about and his response was “My world, my Zelda, my children, and my family. I love you.”

Son – Stephen Jared (Connie) Callahan – Lorain, OH
Daughter – Melissa Annette (Mark) Elledge – Currie, NC
Grandson – Randy Stephen (Brittany) Custer – Harmony, NC
Great Grandson – River Allen Custer (The light of Stephen’s Life and Apple of his eye)
Brothers – Tony (Brenda) Callahan – Elizabethton, TN, Timothy Callahan – Fredericksburg,
VA

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM – Monday, May 18, 2026 at the Bower Funeral Home – Chapel, Pulaski, Interment will follow at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, Virginia.
The family will receive friends one hour before service time on Monday at the Funeral Home.
