Burton, Sr., David Lee

David Lee Burton, Sr. completed his life’s journey on August 20, 2026, at his home. Born June 24, 1955, in Pulaski, Virginia, he was the son of the late Lawrence Oakley Burton, Sr. and Anna Arner. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence Burton, Jr.

David was hard-working, loyal, and truly irreplaceable. Throughout his life, David had a heart for helping others and was always willing to lend a hand. He had helped countless families over the years through his work in the funeral profession and had been digging graves for nearly 50 years. His dedication, strength, and willingness to serve others left a lasting impact on many people in his community.

David worked at Bower Funeral Home for over 35 years, where he became a familiar and trusted face to countless families. His years of service were more than just a job—they were a way of helping others during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

David’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Rygas family for all the years spent with Dad and for being like family.

David leaves behind his partner, Wanda Reed; children, David (Jennifer) Burton and Sierra “Cathy” Stuart; grandchildren, Brianna, Bryttani, Kamron, Jacob (Alyssa) Burton, Zack (Julia) Nixon, Chase Dean, and Faith (Jaden) McGuire; great-grandchildren, David Nathanial Burton, Braylen and Carson Nixon, and Jonah Bryce McGuire; uncles, Bobby Rorrer of Ohio and Bobby “Bob” Burton of Pulaski; lifelong friend, John Kilbert; and many furry pets.

The family will receive friends from 5:00–7:00 PM – Wednesday evening, August 26, 2026, at Bower Funeral Home, Pulaski.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM – Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Bower Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski. Interment will follow at Rorrer Cemetery (Robinson Tract Road, Pulaski).
