Bray, Mary Hall

Bray, Mary Hall 4Mary Lenora Hall Bray was what some brave souls would call tiny by fierce; never letting her height of 4’11 detract from her big personality. Mary first was a daughter who deeply loved her parents June and Othor Hall, spending as much time with them as possible.

She married at age 17 to Frank Bray; their marriage endured for 64 years. Frank and Mary had four children together: Valerie, Jeffery, Brian, and Karen. From those four children came nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

After raising her children to adulthood, she then entered the restaurant industry and often outworked her younger peers. Much to their shame as Mary was not one to let her opinion of your work ethic go unvoiced. Mary also had a take no bull attitude when it came to customer service. But it was also said by a former coworker and manager, “I never had a better employee than Mary, she was hard working and always on time. She often beat me to work and would be standing by the door saying you’re late again.”

Mary’s children and grandchildren all agree that she had a mischievous sense of humor which she expressed in the best grin. For her grandchildren she was synonymous with the holidays with many of their Christmas’s and Fourth of July’s spent at her house. She was a demon on four wheels when she drove, managing this by sitting all the way up on the stirring wheel, sitting on pillows, and using the tips of her toes to hit the gas and brake. On one notable occasion she was pulled over because the officer thought a child was driving the car.

This remembrance is to paint a picture of a strong willed, funny, and deeply loved woman. She was our beloved Wife, Sister, Mom, Maw-Maw Lenore, Aunt Mary, and coworker; she will be greatly missed by so many. She has requested that there be no services.
