Bishop, Vera Robertson

Vera Lou Robertson Bishop, of Giles County, Va., passed on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, in Halifax County, Va. She graduated from Narrows High School in 1951 and came to Blacksburg in search of employment. She worked many years at Poly Scientific and also at Electro-Tec.

She met Nelson in 1952 and they were married in 1953, in Radford, Va. They settled in Christiansburg and had one son, Larry. Vera Lou and Nelson were members of Faith Missionary Baptist Church and later moved their membership to Belmont Baptist Church. Nelson passed away suddenly in February of 1987. Larry and his wife Barbara reside in South Boston.

A graveside service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 12 noon. Pastor Neal Turner will conduct the service. Following the service, A gathering of friends and family will take place in the Whisner Building of Blacksburg United Methodist Church, 111 Church Street, Blacksburg Virginia. Parking is available behind the church.
