Beware of Scammer Calls

We have received several calls today reporting that the scammers are back it, using the scam described below. Please be aware that the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is NOT contacting people by phone and demanding payment of fines for missing jury duty or other court dates.

Additionally, neither they nor the courts will ever ask you to purchase gift cards and provide the card numbers to the caller. If you receive one of these calls, please do not provide your personal information, bank information or buy gift cards and provide card numbers. If you do, it is difficult, if not impossible, to ever recover this money.

If you do receive any phone solicitation and have questions about it’s legitimacy, disconnect with the caller and contact your local law enforcement agency.
