Bentley, Curtis Bonner
Curtis Bonner Bentley, 76 of Narrows, Va., formerly of Texas, passed away Friday, April 5, 2024, at his home. Curtis was born on May 7, 1947, in Minneapolis, MN, and was a son of the late Loren Blanton Bentley, Sr. and Elizabeth Anne House Bentley. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Loren Blanton Bentley, Jr. and a sister, Brenda Louise Williams.
Curtis was born in Minnesota and raised in Texas. He graduated from Permian High School in Odessa, TX. From there, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served honorably in Vietnam, between 1967 and 1969. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Science and then was called by the Lord to become an ordained United Methodist Minister. He served churches in Wickett/Wink, TX, Odessa, TX, Las Cruces, NM, Anthony, TX, Merkel, TX and retired from the ministry in Higgins, TX, afterwards he acquired his “long awaited MANCAVE.”
He is survived by his wife 40 years, Debra Diane Day Bentley, of Narrows, 1 son, Michael Bentley (Ashley) of Narrows, 3 grandchildren, Daniel Sorrell, Bella Bentley, Emma Bentley and 2 brothers, John Bentley (Barbara) of TX and Paul Bentley (Colleen) of TX.
Graveside Celebration of Life will be conducted Sunday, April 14, 2024, at 2pm at the residence of the family.
