Belshan, Joyce Oliver

Joyce Anne Oliver Belshan, 83 of Christiansburg, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2026. She was preceded in death her parents, Garland “Bentley” and Iona Johnson Oliver; brothers, Stephen Oliver, Garland “Jerry” Oliver, and Michael Oliver.

Joyce was a devoted mother who raised two sons on her own while going to college and working.

She worked faithfully as a nurse at Catawba hospital and later worked at Volvo. After retirement she enjoyed supporting her grandchildren by taking them to their travel baseball and AAU basketball games.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons and daughter-in-law, Jeff Belshan (Amy) and John Belshan (fiancée Jamie Perigen); grandchildren, Hannah Belshan Altizer (Bryce), Caleb Matthew “Matty Matt” Belshan (Camey), Abigail Belshan Voss, Sarah Belshan, and Zoe Belshan; great-grandchildren, Ellie Voss, Carter Belshan, and Kaia Belshan; sisters, Sharon Akers, and Rhonda Smith; brothers, Phillip Oliver and Marc Oliver; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2026 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jason Underwood officiating. Interment will follow in Big Sand Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at both Oak Haven and Good Samaritan Hospice for the kindness and care they showed to Joyce.
