Balarzs, Roger Stephen

Roger Stephen Balarzs, 85 of Pearisburg, VA., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at his home. Roger was born on February 4, 1941, in Kinball, WV, and was a son of the late Stephen Balarzs and Mary Louise Genza Balarzs. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Balarzs Wysong.

Roger was a graduate of Narrows High School and received his Bachlor’s Degree from Concord Collage. He was a longtime member of the Narrows Presbyterian Church, and lately has been attending the First Christian Church. He was a retired employee of the Celanese Corp. in Narrows with over 30 years of service. He volunteered his time at the Giles County Christian Service Mission for several years. He was also a longtime member of Intermont #269 masonic lodge in Narrows. He loved spending time on the creek banks fishing and on the mountain. He also loved working his garden and sharing his homegrown harvest.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Amy Balarzs Neal (Roger)of Tazewell, Anna Marie Balarzs of Pearisburg, 5 grandchildren, Kyle Collier (Maria), Stephen Collier, Andrew Collier (Katie), Rachel Chapman, Adam Chapman, niece, Tammy Lewis and a nephew, Timmy Wysong.

A graveside service will be held Friday, July 17, 2026, at 2pm at the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, VA with Pastor Sharon Price Emory officiating.
