ReNew the New Holds Another Successful Cleanup

ReNew the New Holds Another Successful Cleanup 2

ReNew the New hosted its annual Fall into the New river cleanup on August 29th. Citizens, non-profits, local businesses, groups from Radford University and Virginia Tech, the Virginia Tech Corp of Cadets and volunteers from across the region gathered in Giles County, Montgomery County and the City of Radford to clean up debris from the New River and its banks.

At this year’s event, over 450 volunteers removed 165 bags of trash which equates to 750 lbs. The total tires removed was in excess of 110 and some of the most interesting finds included a vintage coke sign, a bed frame and a fishing tournament measuring board.

Congratulations to all of the organizers and participants for another wonderful year cleaning up the watershed. More information on this year’s cleanup and what is happening in the watershed can be found at https://www.newriverwatershed.org/
